Choose one option from the following:
1st Option
Pick a moment/memory that took part of constituting you gender identity.
a. Describe that moment/memory, including your feelings. If relevant mention also others’ reactions to it.
b. Choose two gender theories (from Gendered Lives, Ch. 2) to explain why and how this moment/memory was important in your gender development and affected it.
c. Describe two new insights about gender development that derive from this analysis.
d. Through your writing use at least three terms that were taught previously in class or that appear in the previous readings. Highlight these terms in your essay. (you are expected to use terms that are beyond the terms “Sex,” “Gender,” or name of a theory)
e. Through your writing use at least one theoretical text from weeks 2 and 3 (see the syllabus) or an academic article from the list of journals provided (see Canvas, Modules, week 2). You are expected to use the additional text in a meaningful and relevant way.
2nd Option:
Pick one way that you act that challenges conventional understandings of sex and/or gender, and the “normal” or “abnormal” cultural judgments that are attached to them.
