PX Breaking the Climate Silence

Have you aware that the problem of climate change is getting worse? A lot of people know what climate issues are, but only a few are willing to talk about it. At this decisive moment, if we do not take the initiative to discuss climate change and environmental change, how can we take the right action to solve climate issues? To really solve these problems, we need to break the can climate silence. Only if we do not run away and face these problems in silence we find better solutions. So we need to raise awareness of climate issues, understand what climate issues are, and break the climate silence. Why does climate silence happen? Are we all afraid of problems and run away from them? We should actively break the climate silence and take action to create a better environment.

I saw some pictures from the website, my first reaction was that I thought it was beautiful. But when I looked carefully at the words under the picture and the composition and meaning of the picture, I immediately felt that environmental problems should be paid attention to. There are also several pictures of plastic spoons, plastic bags, cigarette lighters, seeds, bees and so on. Plastic products can be seen everywhere in our lives, and the excessive reliance on plastic packaging has caused great damage to the environment as well as climate change. Not only that, but more and more lives are being lost to plastic pollution. Many sea creatures eat plastic waste by mistake, so people eat more small pieces of plastic when they eat seafood. In the final analysis, it is because people's sense of protection is not strong enough, do not pay attention to the harmony between man and nature. The degradation rate of plastic products is extremely slow. Plastic products made in the 1940s still exist today, and it may take hundreds of years for them to completely disappear and degrade from the ecosystem. However, the rate of human production is many times faster than the rate of natural decomposition. Reducing the use of plastics can help protect our biological environments, such as the destruction of soil and the ecology of the ocean. We already have the awareness to use fewer plastic products. I also realize that we should attract attention to environmental protection.

In this paper, in the first three paragraphs, I'll begin by talking about what happens when the oil runs out. The three consequences are that the lack of oil will lead to war. Everything comes from oil. The generation and development of new energy will replace the role of oil. And then we'll go through two paragraphs to explain what climate silence is and the causes of climate silence and the solutions. Next two paragraphs about my attitude to talking about climate and the climate issues that I normally talk about. Then I will use two paragraphs to show how I first realized the importance of climate and how I first came into contact with nature. In the end, I will use two paragraphs to express the responsibility of schools to break the climate silence and two paragraphs about how schools should take action to break the climate silence.

The first consequences of burning all this oil are the war will happen. Oil is managed for war, and oil can lead to war. Human life is dependent on oil, and in a scarce age, oil is hard to get expensive energy. Oil is the resource of the great powers and the power of weapons. Oil is the main source of energy necessary for human production when oil is gone, people will take other countries' resources because of oil supplies and even cause war. In world war ii, for example, oil was a major factor in Japan's decision to go to war with the United States. Because of the shortage of resources, the last injury was only human. According to from History News Network, it said that “American oil, which amounted to 6 billion barrels, out of a total of 7 billion barrels consumed by the Allies for the period of World War Two, brought victory! Without the prodigious delivery of oil from the U. S. this global war, quite frankly, could never have been won.” You can see how important oil is to a country. It's hard for me to imagine that without oil, some countries would go to war and only human beings would be hurt. Then people may lose the principle of peaceful coexistence because of the competition for oil.

When the oil runs out, the second consequence is affected by human life. Human life depends entirely on the supply of oil, and the world's transportation is by steam diesel. In addition, food, materials, clothing, computers, furniture, mobile phones, and other people's dependencies are supported by oil supplies. Without oil, the quality of human life will be greatly reduced, and may not be satisfied with the basic needs of life. Human life will retreat. It's hard to imagine how different our lives would be without oil. Without oil, what I can imagine is that there will be long lines at the gas stations, and the price of oil is bound to go up. “In the US the average American commutes 16 miles to work each day, so the sudden disappearance of oil would devastate most economies as workers simply can’t get to work.” By the Infographics Show. Because the oil is going to run dry, there will be fewer and fewer people in all means of transportation such as cars, railways, and airports. People who work in transportation will lose their jobs. People rather work at home instead of work outside. People's lives will become more and more difficult.

The third consequence of burning all the oil makes the new energy industry rapid. When the oil dries up, humans find ways to use other energy to replace oil. Like natural gas, solar energy, wind energy, etc. With the demand of the market, the new energy production will drive the development of the new economy, and the countries that master the development of new energy technologies will develop rapidly.     “Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex, the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.” Bill Mollison. It's true that there are many ways to solve the problem. Without oil, or other new sources of energy could be a good substitute. Before the oil runs out, we should make more efforts to protect the resources we should have, don't waste them, and use them reasonably. Start thinking about solutions now, so we don't panic when oil runs out.

Climate change has always been a topic of concern for all of us, there are many people know the importance of climate change, but only a few of them talk about climate change. The contrast between is called climate silence. Climate change is a step in the way of people's lives, and many people know the importance of climate change, but not everyone is willing to discuss the impact of climate change on humans. According to the statistics, “only 37 percent of people will actively discuss it. Only a few people have discussed the impact of climate change, more focused on climate issues and have taken certain activities to make changes.” I think people should take the initiative to talk about climate change, start to talk about climate change is the first step to changing climate change. Only when you take the initiative to talk about climate change can help more people realize the seriousness of climate change and find better solutions. Talking isn’t enough for climate change, at least we should start to talk about climate change and give more ideas.

Another reason for the choice of climate silence is the fear of trouble or the problem of being pointed out, which leads to climate silence. Climate change is produced by the day of the day, such as tackling global warming. This is not something that can be done in the short term, it is a long time to settle the problem. A lot of people don’t have enough knowledge to understand what climate issues are. People are afraid to talk about climate change because the understanding of climate change is not enough, and it is not clear that the solution of climate change, so it is more likely to be questioned and pointed out. According to the Los Angeles Times, “if you think everyone disagrees with you, or most people disagree with you, then you are not going to want to speak up. It starts this spiral of silence where people misjudge the beliefs of others, and then they remain quiet about this important issue.” In my opinion, I think we should not afraid to talk about our opinions about climate change. Even though you have different ideas than other people, we should still try to speak up. We can start to talk about the weather which is a good entry point to start a conversation. Or we can try to talk with our friends and family because you’ll feel more tease and less embarrassed by them denying your point of view.

I don't think we can avoid talking about climate issues. Climate change threatens our environment and is closely related to us. The main cause of climate change is human. Talking about climate issues will enhance our environmental awareness and deepen our awareness of environmental protection. Rose Hendricks, writing for The Climate Reality Project, she said “If we have these war thoughts swimming around in our minds when we think about global warming, we’re more likely to believe it’s important to defeat the opponent, which, in this case, is global warming.” It is not clear that the climate problem has a big impact on our lives, if we don’t discuss the climate issues. Only by actively discussing climate issues can help us to find a better solution. We should fact the climate issues like the war, we will get more ideas when we against the climate issues.

Climate issues is happened anywhere around us, Environmental problems are the most common topics in our life, such as the weather. In studies performed in the US and Europe, there was found to be a definite relationship between air pollution and cardiovascular and lung cancer death. The smaller PM2.5 were particularly deadly, with 36% increase in lung cancer rate for every increase of 10 micrograms of PM2.5 per cubic meter. I often discuss climate issues with my family and friends, such as haze, because this climate issue has appeared in many countries, such as in China. “Coal combustion, vehicle emissions, and industrial sources are the major contributors to PM2.5.” If we can reduce these air pollution emissions, pm2.5 will be reduced, and the haze weather will be reduced. My family and I will talk about this problem because the haze weather affects people's living habits, most people have to wear masks when they go out. Fog is a natural phenomenon. Haze is caused by man. Haze is the product of the combination of industrialization development stage and special weather conditions. The harm caused by haze to health is certain. Haze will induce respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

For the problems of nature, environment, and climate, I have known that this is a very important problem since primary school. At that time in class, the teacher explained to us the importance of the ecological environment to human beings, and improved our awareness of environmental protection. But I realized the magnitude of the climate problem was when I was in high school in China. There was a period when the haze was very serious, the sky during that period seemed to have a layer of visual obstacles when you go out you have to wear a mask, because the haze is harmful to the human body after inhalation of the respiratory tract, if long-term inhalation, serious will lead to death. At that time, I realized that the climate problem is closely related to haze. I think most of the climate change is man-made because people deprive nature and destroy the balance of nature. Smog, on the other hand, is usually caused by a combination of pollution sources. For example, the exhaust gas produced by burning coal for heating in some areas, the exhaust gas from industrial production, and the exhaust gas from vehicles will aggravate the air pollution.

I still remember my first contact with nature was a tree planting activity organized by the school when I was in primary school. At that time, we went to a small mountain. I still remember that I took a small shovel to dig a small hole, and then my teacher put his hand on the bottom of the sapling and put the sapling into the soil. Then my classmates and I used shovels to cover the soil evenly from around the saplings and put water on it. The tree planting activity made me feel very excited as if I made a small life. Planting trees not only beautify the environment but also balances the earth's carbon dioxide. It can also control soil erosion and desertification. “Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. Without drastic action today, adapting to these impacts in the future will be more difficult and costly.” By United Nations. So we both have responsibility to protect our home, we should do something to make our life better.

I think college have the responsible for breaking the climate silence. College can help students get more knowledge to learn about nature and to live a better life. For example, schools can offer more courses about environmental protection. Or a common statistics math class, which can be used to make students count the data on plastic recycling, the data of waste gas pollution, and so on. Through basic mathematical knowledge, students can learn more about the existence of environmental problems in the course of math, and they can defeat the climate silence in the process of discussing how to do it. Schools can also open environmental lectures and organize outdoor activities to enhance awareness of environmental protection. “Like students, we(school)have responsibilities: To dive deeply into professional practice and make informed, effective instructional decisions.by Rick Wormeli. I think the awareness of the school's publicity and protection environment is important, whether the student can make action and change for the environmental problem, the effective promotion will be a subtle change in the students' thoughts. A large amount of knowledge teaching and publicity will allow students to have at least a concept of environmental change, rather than silence about the environmental problems.

The protection of the ecological environment is everyone's due responsibility, the school also has inescapable responsibility, must not be a spectator. The education of environmental protection should be infiltrated into the classroom teaching, making use of classroom education, through the knowledge points to properly arrange the lectures of environmental protection quality education. In sociology, students can learn about the current state of the national environment through national education, so that they can have a preliminary understanding and understanding of environmental protection, climate problems, and pollution problems. Through extracurricular activities to help students deepen the awareness of environmental protection. “We prove to them the relevance of our course content and skill sets, helping them see connections that transfer to other classes and life.”—Rick Wormeli. I think schools can also organize students to do some environmental activities by paying attention to earth day and world environment day every year. For example, plan one day a month to organize students to go to the beach to pick up plastic supplies and white garbage. In this way, students can not only understand the importance of environmental protection in the activities but also truly feel the problems facing the earth.

There are many ways that school can help students break the climate silence. Schools have the responsibility to help students break the climate silence, and they have the responsibility to help students break the climate silence. One way is to arouse students' interest in environmental protection. Teachers can arouse students' interest in knowledge points through some small games or group cooperation activities in class. For example, through some funny pictures or interesting PowerPoint to arouse students' interest. In class, if the students are bored, the teacher can play some movies or videos about the current climate problem, and the teacher can play a leading role to attract students' attention. “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.” - Anthony J D'Angelo. Only by cultivating students' enthusiasm for understanding environmental protection issues can help students understand what environmental problems are and take the initiative to talk about it.

Another way to help schools is to do more publicity about the environment. To raise students' awareness of environmental problems, we can help students better understand the existence of environmental problems through various charity sales, knowledge lectures, project exhibitions and so on. For example, in a photography class, the teacher can start a project on environmental protection. Students can learn both the skills of photography and any environmental problems that exist today. Photos taken by students can also be displayed on the school's official website, classrooms and school corridors through exhibitions. Students of this major not only learn professional knowledge, but they also make other students see the problems of the current environment. “Before we can solve a problem, we need to know exactly what the problem is, and we should put a good amount of thinking and resources into understanding it.”—Traci Carpenter. Most students do not talk about climate actively, partly because they do not know the problem. When teachers tell students through classroom knowledge, students can have a clearer understanding of the environment and climate issues, and then they will be more active to talk about climate issues.
