Assignment Cycle #3: Writing Prompt
Impact on Your Life
Everyone has, at some time in the past, read a book, listened to a song, or seen a movie, a play, or a television show that has had a meaningful impact on his or her life. Some have read a novel or poem that affected the way they see themselves, their family, or their friends. Others have watched a movie, Broadway show, or television series or heard a particular song that alters their view of life's milestones and how to approach them.
In a wellorganized essay, describe such a book, song, movie, play, or TV show. Then explain the impact it had on your life (great or small) at the time you read or saw it, and explain whether it continues to affect you in some way today; if so, explain how; if not, explain why not.
Impact on Your Life
Everyone should have a vision and a goal in life. In this effort, many actions have been taken to achieve these goals. I believe in building self-realization and self-awareness by reading self-help books. It is through this way that I can see my inner world from a different perspective and evaluate myself. Of all the self-help books I read, I found Tim's "Why You Act the Way You Do" informative and inspiring. This book not only explains what motivates a person to act, but also points out how to build, improve and maintain relationships. Tim 's self-help book caught the reader's attention, had a huge impact and continues to affect their lives indefinitely. Comment by anthonymalatka: Be sure to italicize books, not quote them such as here. Comment by anthonymalatka: Your thesis here seems to be discussing someone else’s argument, rather like a book report, rather than giving your own opinion. Be careful about this.
Self-help books can help readers solve their personal problems, which is what attracts readers. Tim first recorded how many temperaments there are in the world, and how they change. In this way, he captures the reader's interest by providing a quiz to help them identify their temperament. This step goes a long way toward appreciating a person's personality and personality traits. Finally, the ways in which one can improve oneself are emphasized, thus providing a good way to self-actualize and through their actions. All of these parts of the book provide examples to make them as realistic as possible. The book explains the way a person behaves.
In addition, reading of self-help books often has a significant impact on the reader. Tim 's book had a huge impact on my reading life. By acknowledging that personality affects everything a person does, I was able to realize that I could find my strengths and weaknesses, and be different from those around me. Famous examples of personality influences in Tim 's book include shopping, studying and paying bills. For example, a depressed person has a strong desire for books, even though he lacks the organizational skills to clean up the desk. For example I no longer struggle to clear my desk as I cannot help it. When it comes to shopping, this book is in line with my habits, so I no longer worry about whether I'm behaving strangely. This is an example of what self-help books do to me; A sense of satisfaction, which is justified by the way I act. Comment by anthonymalatka: You don’t need the “of” in this instance. Comment by anthonymalatka: Stylistically, using “for example” twice near each other can be somewhat repetitive.
Finally, self-help books can change a person's life indefinitely. This phrase stems from my appreciation of Tim's real-life advice, which still resonates with my daily life. Through the examples in this book, I realized that I could maximize my potential and that I could maximize the potential of others by merging or missing certain interactions. One notable example I learned that resonated with my family life was the way I dealt with anger and hostility. While fear is the first emotional issue that ruins relationships, anger is enemy number one. Therefore, I had better not let my temperament lead me to be angry with others. Comment by anthonymalatka: Clarify a little of what you mean here. It sounds like both fear and anger are the root causes of family strife at the same time.
All in all, reading Tim's why do you do this is very important in my life. Not only did it give me an insight into my own temperament, it also helped me embark on a journey of self-fulfillment. It was this influence that made me understand why I did what I did, and I knew exactly what determined my character and personality. It all started with my interest in self-help books and the impact they had on my life. Comment by anthonymalatka: As before, make sure you italicize book titles.
