RELI 250 - Essay #1 – Analytical Essay

Topic:
Using the readings assigned for class, write an essay exploring the interconnection between Place/Land/Ecosystem, Community, Ceremonies, and Narratives/Stories for one of the following: Diné/Navajo (Tapahonso and Crawford), the Tohono O’odham (McComb Sanchez, “Ours is the Land”-film), or the Pueblos (Swentzell, “Surviving Columbus”-film). Each of these areas does not have to be equally represented in your paper and you should feel free to incorporate discussion of language if applicable.
You must reference your text and include at least 2 short quotes from that text. The quotes need to be parenthetically cited with the author’s last name and the page number.
If choosing the Navajo you are required to use one or more of the pieces found in Tapahonso’s book, referencing Crawford’s piece is optional.
If choosing the Tohono O’odham you must use McComb Sanchez’s article, referencing the film is optional.
If choosing the Pueblos you must use Swentzell’s chapter, referencing the film is optional.
