Armand Aubigny, Desiree's husband, knew from the beginning about his mixed blood and he was hiding it: he was in denial and covering the truth, he married a white woman with unknown heritage, he was not surprise about Desiree's baby’s appearance, and above all, he was aware about his mom's secret.
Subtopic One: Armond was in denial about his mixed race
1. He was ignoring anyone who is not white.
2. He was so tough, harsh and merciless toward his slaves.
3. He despised his wife after the baby was born.
4. He accused his wife of being “not white”

He insisted to marry her even though Mr. Valmonde warned him about her past. 3. He suddenly claimed that he loved her and decided to marry her when she turned 18. 4. When he declared his love, she was standing at the place where Mr. Valmonde found her. He softened toward his slaves. 3. It took him 3 months to distance himself from his wife and that after the rumors spread out. 4. His reaction was cold when his wife faced him with the truth.
