1. Choose one of the theories or concepts from Concept Application 5 or 6. OR design your own topic based on chapters 7, 8, and 9. Please "OK" the topic with me so that what you are working with is appropriate for the length and level of critical thinking. 

2. Write a 5 paragraph essay (1000-1200 words) exploring and explaining the concept (organizational structure below)

3. No outside research is necessary, but if you choose to use some, you will need to include it in your citation page. (You may use MLA or APA style)

4. Make sure if you use words and concepts from our text, you acknowledge the source and quote properly. (You may use MLA or APA style)

5. This is a college level formal assignment, so make sure you proofread!

6. Check the rubric before you turn it in.

7. Pay attention to the plagiarism score -- If it's high when  you turn it in, you will need to contact me OR IMMEDIATELY fix your quotation and citation. If it's high, and you're not sure what to do, please contact me. I'm here to help!

8. Contact the Speech and Sign Success Center or the Writing Center if you'd like help brainstorming, organizing, etc. 

9. Check the comments on your returned Paper One to help you improve your performance. 

 

Possible Organizational Pattern:

I. Paragraph One

Intro --(Include Attention Getter, Topic, Significance, and Thesis)

II. Paragraph Two

Summarize the theory (Keep this to one page or less.)

III. Paragraph Three

Where do you see the theory in action in society/world? (Give specific, clear examples. You can use news events, media events, historical events. I might add that television shows and movies are great for this.)

IV. Paragraph Four

How this theory has been evident in your life? (Give specific, clear examples)

V. Paragraph Five

Conclusion -- (Restate thesis, significance, topic statement, create a lasting thought)

VI. Citation page

Includes all sources cited (may follow MLA or APA citation)
