My reason for wanting to be a nurse is one that hits very close to home. When i was a young child I was being raised by my late grandmother and step-grandfather, while my mother and father were still in Haiti. The only catch was that my grandparents were always sick and in and out of the hospital, which at times could be daunting and made my childhood a bit stressful, But i knew i could always count on the nurses at the local hospital to make things better. Whenever i would accompany my grandparents to the ER or visit the room they were moved to. The assigned nurse would always put my family at ease by assuring us things would be OK, and doing their best to make my sick grandparents feel as comfortable as possible, on top of that they would even go above and beyond by helping me with homework or joking around with me to help ease my anxiety, sometimes even helping me with home work and giving me life advice, which left a lasting impression on me for life. As i grew into a young-adult and starting deciding what i wanted to pursue for a career, upon some soul searching & self-analyzing i realized that i was interested in medicine. I was caring, empathetic and wanted to see people do good, so i realized that nursing could be my calling but it wasn't until i remembered my childhood memories and all the great things those nurses had done for me and my family, which is when i knew that nursing would be my path to walk in life.
