Chapter Summaries  Chapter 12 and 13 focus on aspects relating to research ethics and participant recruitment strategies. The most important issues highlighted in chapter 12 are the ethical principles of research. The responsibility of the researchers in ensuring that studies are designed in a manner to reduce risks and enhance the benefits that could be accrued to the research participants. Another important aspect presented in the chapter is the ethical issues in research that include deception and breaking confidentiality trust. Chapter 13 addresses aspects of participant recruitment highlighting the steps followed in the selection of research participants. Participants are required to willingly decide whether they need to participate in the study and this is where motivators come into play. An important motivating factor is curiosity on the part of the research participant regarding the aims of the study.
