EQ4 Essays

The essay you will write this semester are intended to give you space to explore the implications of the research you’re reading, make connections between sources/ideas, and articulate your developing understanding of your topic (or your developing research question). Ideally, the first essay will help you build a background understanding of your specific topic, and the second will be a more focused inquiry – a step toward the research you will do when your project/thesis begins.

Basic Requirements

· Minimum length 3 pages

· Minimum 3 sources (academic articles)

· Draws connections between sources

Grade	Criteria
A	· Includes ideas for next steps in your research
B	· Demonstrates critical reading of articles (awareness of argument as well as author’s bias/perspective/framework, among other possibilities)
C	· Minimum length 3 pages · Minimum 3 academic articles cited · Draws connections between sources · Well organized with minimal grammatical errors
