 Survey of American Literature: Exploration through the Civil War

While Crevecoeur wrote his  Letters from an American Farmer more than 200 years ago, many consider his letter "What is an American?" to be as relevant today as it was when it was first published. What do you think makes it relevant today? What is your personal definition of what makes an American?
