Research-Based Cause and Effect Essay over the Movie Lean on Me

In this essay, the objective will be to utilize the writing mode of “Cause and Effect Analysis” as a method of exploring a topic and for explaining the causes or effects of a particular issue, event, or action. The essay must be in written in proper essay structure (introduction and thesis statement, a minimum of 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion). The essay must also illustrate proper MLA formatting.

Option 1:

The movie Lean on Me presents a variety of social problems and issues, such as violence in the public school system, drug abuse, teen sex, and teen pregnancy. Choose one of these topics and write a 3-4 page research-based essay in MLA format with a minimum of 2-3 secondary sources discussing at least three “Causes” surrounding the issue. For example, if you choose teen sex, you will focus on three reasons teens engage in sexual activity.

Option 2:

Choose one of the social problems and issues stated in option 1 and write a 3-4 page research-based essay in MLA format with a minimum of 2-3 secondary sources discussing at least three “Effects” of the problem. For example, if you choose teen sex, you will focus on three effects, or consequences of teen pregnancy.
