The purpose of this essay is to convince the audience about the importance of reading in one's life, whether it is good or bad prose. Kings employ humour in this essay to develop his argument that reading is more important than watching Tv, Kings also says that reading in general help a writer to increase his field of knowledge in different styles of writing.

One of the examples King uses is that reading has also changed this life In writing as he also adapted from many different authors. He used different examples of James M. Cain, Ray Bradbury and others. moreover, the king says that a writer can change his/her style by adapting to others writing and changing your style. Furthermore, King established more facts that reading is really important it creates an ease and intimacy with the process of writing. He also states that reading constantly grows your knowledge about what has been done and what hasn't. King also tells that reading more help a writer for not being a fool with a pen and reading can improve a write in different ways.

Yes, I was convinced by Stephen King in his argument that reading is important in a writer's life without reading a person can't improve his/her style. His humour also convinced my view of the importance of reading in one's life.
