Tepper, Fitz. "Uber's New Update Gives Food Delivery as Much Attention As Transportation." ProQuest Central, Aug 17, 2015, https://search-proquest-com.www.libproxy.wvu.edu/docview/1704409663?accountid=2837 . 9 Oct. 2017.

This source talks about how Uber are expanding their work and came out with an update that has a new feature which allows the app users to order from restaurants instead of asking for a ride, but right now this feature is only available in some major cities, but they are still working on adding it to other cities as time passes. This new update shows that Uber are planning on bringing more users to their application by finding new ways to help users. The author is reliable and has a strong background on technology and social applications, his information is based on the company’s announcements. He mentions that NYC users has a month of free delivery (a maximum of 4$ charge) which shows that he even focuses on small details. I learned from this source that Uber are not just about ride sharing, and that they are trying to get more users which made them think about delivering food and that they are trying to find more new ways to help providing users’ needs.

Leighton, Patricia. "Professional Self-Employment, New Power and the Sharing Economy: Some Cautionary Tales from Uber."  Journal of Management and Organization, vol. 22, no. 6, 2016, pp. 859-874 , ProQuest Central, https://search-proquest-com.www.libproxy.wvu.edu/docview/1850069228?accountid=2837, doi:http://dx.doi.org.www.libproxy.wvu.edu/10.1017/jmo.2016.30. 9 Oct. 2017.

This article talks about new untraditional ways of work and how people today prefer to get self-employed and work more on the sharing industry than other industries. An example of this industry is the international ride sharing company Uber. This kind of work provides time flexibility where people can start work and end whenever they want, and it is also a way to meet people and make new relationships. The source used about 72 references including researches, interviews and case studies which makes the information in this source strong and credible, it even explains how this type work is a new philosophy which can be expanded and improved to make people find new ways to work. I learned from this article that getting a normal job is not just the only way to work and get money but there are other kinds of new jobs and industries that can make me find the most suitable way of working, even though Uber is not the perfect job for raising money, but this type of work can be improved to be more professional and more economically needed.

Developing a Research Question.docx

Developing a Research Question

Developing a research question is the first step to constructing a strong thesis statement. This question will also help you focus your research decide which information will be useful.

A research question is open ended and does not have a clear yes or no. It should not ask about straight factual information, or begin with “How many” or “Who” or “When,” It should be broad enough so that it is not easily answerable in one or two sources, and should require multiple sources to answer fully.

For example, the question “How many non-violent drug offenders are currently incarcerated in the us?” can be easily answered with a fact.

Effective research questions are analytical, which means they go beyond the simple facts to examine the deeper issues of why the facts are the way they are. Frequently they begin with “why” or “how.”

“How would reducing sentencing for non-violent drug offenders affect the crime rate?” is a question that does not have a clear factual answer and is broad enough that multiple sources are needed to answer it.

To develop your research question, begin by listing all the questions that you would like answered about your topic (at least 6-8). Make sure to ask some open ended questions by beginning with ‘how’ and ‘why’. Then, review your list and cross out any yes or no questions and questions that are easily answerable with facts. Look at the remaining questions and choose one that is broad enough that it needs multiple sources to answer fully and debatable enough so that it cannot solely be answered with facts. If necessary, combine two or more questions into one.

Revise and rewrite this question for your Research Proposal: since your thesis sentence will answer this question, so you really should take time to craft the sentence carefully and make sure you get the wording right. Avoid general terms like ‘society’ and subjective terms like ‘good’/’bad’.

A successful research question is focused, specific, and debatable.

Examples of effective research questions:

How does the education level of parents impact childhood obesity rates in WV?

Does living in an impoverished household affect a child’s learning development?

How has social media impacted the social development of children?
