RESEARCH PROPOSAL: |
Nurses as the bedside providers and community educators, are a reliable source of information. Reminding families and children of the effects of the excessive added sugars to the overall health, is a must when gauging and creating a care plan. Support form the government and healthcare authorities should be provided, as mentioned already, the dispensing of this products in public places can be reduced and substituted by healthier choices. Today, around two-thirds of all adults in the developed world are overweight. Carbohydrate-based food which is high in sugar and starch are usually the cheapest to find in the supermarket shelf (Lieberman, 2014). Therefore, cost for a healthier choices is going to be a challenge and having to change the mindset of millions is not easy task, education and reinforcement that in the long run is an investment in your body and mind will be a way to overcome this great challenge. We live in a society that specializes in how to convince costumers to buy more and more so the economy does not stay stagnant, systems are updated to work perfectly with the newest launched product, obliging the costumer to upgrade more often. Educating patients to change mindset and invest in your own health will pay off with an improved quality of life.

When your body becomes insulin resistant, this means that the hormone can no longer store or use the glucose in your bloodstream, because the cells have become resistant. This can lead to a vicious cycle since, to lower your blood sugar levels, you need introduce more insulin into your body. |
