Please describe what inspires your decision for becoming an optometrist, including your preparation for training in this profession, your aptitude and motivation, the basis for your interest in optometry, and your future career goals (4500 characters)

I attended University of Knoxville and I joined the pre-medical club. Optometrist and other doctors used to come and talk to us about the field. Optometry had captured my attention to the maximum, and I was captivated by it. Another thing is that my cousins were all born with glaucoma and that always kept me wondering how the eye works. Such as, if it’s more with the genetics part or just something from the mom because nor the mother or the father side of the family has glaucoma. On top of that, what mainly inspired me of becoming an optometrist is that shortly after my father brought us to the US, he went to an optometrist to check on his eye. The results of the visit were that they figured out that he had a stroke in his left eye, and he is no longer able to see from it. In addition, the chances of getting his vision back are very rare. However, they did suggest an injection that he gets every couple of months that can help a bit. I used to go with him every time he gets his shot done at the Tennessee Retina with Dr. Busbee. Every time I went, there was always something that would capture my attention and I would ask about it to learn what is does and what it’s for. My interest in the field start growing every day. I knew that’s what I wanted to do since I was young and went to my first eye exam. I was very passionate about the whole thing to an extreme. I even started shadowing at the Loden Vision Center Dr. Barberic in which I found out various techniques such as: adults and youngsters' eye exams, cataract strategies, and glaucoma patients. As a result, from my shadowing, I knew that I was even more passionate about optometry. Not just that, but I was very interested to even work there and I got a job at Visionworks. I loved working there, I pre-tested patients, selling contacts, and sit up doctors’ rooms while shadowing them to see what they did in their daily routine. I also dealt with insurance, old people, kids, and helping patients to fix their glasses and/or pick new frames. I also assisted the optometrist with examinations. My number one position was to establish a connection and hold pleasantness with the patients
