Lifelong Learning Plan

My personal plan would be incorporating a specific hour of learning in my daily schedule. To achieve this plan, I would determine the areas that I have a keen interest in or areas I would wish to strengthen my competencies in, then create a specific time frame to complete each topic. This will shape the direction for my learning. We are in a technological age where a multitude of learning opportunities can be accessed online, from audiobooks to online lectures, video classes, e-books, podcasts, and so forth (Valamis, n.d.). I learn best through a combination of auditory and visual mediums, and so the mentioned online resources will help me the most out of my daily learning. Before starting a certain topic, I will make an outline of the desired outcomes or rather goals that I hope to achieve by the end of the topic’s allocated time frame. If I meet these goals, which would mostly entail my ability to elaborate key issues about a topic at various angles, as well as the concepts associated with a particular topic, then I would conclude that my learning has been effective.

The PEAK program implementation is appropriate because this flexible learning opportunity will help employees to address the gaps in their workplace skills, as well as provide them with the chance to strengthen their existing competencies. Continuous learning increases the competitiveness of employees, which consequently benefits the organization as a whole. Critics argue that continuous learning is not worth it if whatever is being learned may not be immediately applied to real-world situations. Another common objection is that continuous learning is a waste of time since an employee already learned everything they needed to know in school, hence why they secured their current positions. This is a flawed perception because career progression requires ongoing learning and development. Continuous learning also contributes to increased productivity, which directly influences satisfaction in the workplace.
