Assignment 1, 2 ,and 3

Great! Having a strong understanding of your topic and how the topic impacts upon your life or career will help keep you on track in the future. Remember, everything in the persuasive proposal revolves around the topic, so it is important to keep the idea of the topic clear in your mind!

Having a strong understanding of who the audience is helps us craft our persuasive writing to be as effective as possible. You’ve got a very clear sense of your audience, here! However, you might want to think some more about why the topic you’ve picked is important to your audience. The general applicability of the topic to the audience you’ve got here is good, but it would help you shape your arguments more in the future if you had a more specific and immediate reason for why your audience would consider the topic important.

Reliable, credible sources will go a long way towards satisfying your audience’s needs in terms of appeals to logos and ethos. You’ve identified four or five strong sources here, including a counterargument source, which will make you that much more aware of what arguments you can present in your proposal when you’re working on Writing Assignment 02! However, you might have identified five credible sources but no opposing source. Think carefully about whether it will be possible to lay out a counterargument for your audience without an opposing source!

Being able to summarize our sources is a way to determine to ourselves that we understand all the work that went into them. You’ve done an okay job of summarizing your sources here. However, remember that all the ‘Ws’ need to be used, and I only see one or two being applied to your sources here. What would using the other ‘Ws’ tell you about your sources?

Being able to describe the potential use of our sources is a necessary step in understanding our sources. Further, analyzing our sources' credibility is critically important if we are to rely on them to support what we say in our persuasive writing. You’ve done both, here, and done so quite well!

You’ve got a good grasp on how your sources are purposeful, represent a variety of perspectives, and are ethical in their use of information! However, some examples drawn from your sources would have helped strengthen your claims. Have you given any thought to the relationship between your ethical approach and your information literacy?

Providing writing that is clear, as close to error-free as possible, and fully developed in accordance with a professional style like SWS can be difficult, but it is necessary to do so. You have clearly edited and proofread your work carefully, and I strongly suspect that you have made good use of resources like Grammarly and Tutor.com. Well done! Keep at it; remember, the less we can be misunderstood by our readers, the better!

This really is a great first step in the class, Mohammad. Whatever errors you’ve made here should be taken seriously and worked on between now and Writing Assignment 02, but in the main this is a fine effort that you can truly be proud of.
