Pros and Cons of the Criminal Justice System

· Corruption in criminal justice system is so deeply rooted into the system, now that it seems to be a towering task to remove it or even reduce it to a certain degree. 

· There is no celerity of punishment as advocates and other people who are involved in the criminal justice system intentionally delay the criminal justice procedure in order to turn the case into their favor.

· Massive prison overcrowding is an issue

· It was suggested overcrowding stems from the need to increase profits from private prisons.

Racial profiling has destroyed public trust in police.

Effectiveness of current system

The effectiveness of prison for reducing drug offender recidivism: a regression discontinuity analysis

· The War on Drugs popularized a set of policies and practices that dramatically increased the number of drug arrests, particularly for low-level drug offenses

· The United states has the highest prison rate in the world.
