Question/Comment Reference: Inside Work, pg.10 Understanding Disciplinarity: In your own words, how would you describe the four academic disciplines Humanities, social Science, Natural science, and applied fields?

I would describe humanities as an attempt to understand the human race, ranging from history, languages, history, art music philosophy, religion, anthropology, communication, sociology, psychology, etc. Social Science focuses on human behaviors, to understand how the brain works, how a certain group of humans communicate among each other and how society functions together as a whole. Natural Science This discipline focus on the natural world, based on experimentation data such as biology, plants, chemistry, environment, etc., based on experimentation data. Applied Fields focuses on the three disciplines above, however this discipline focus on their own specific criteria. Examples of this would be, nursing, counseling, law, education, business, etc.  

1. Question/Comment: What surprised you about the goals or objectives for your writing course?

I was surprised to find that this course has less papers to write. Otherwise, it is what I expected from an English class. In other English classes I had a paper due each week on top of answering questions from the book.

1. Question/Comment: What is similar to or different from the writing courses you have taken before?

What I have noticed bout this course is there is less writing, than other classes I have taken having paper due every week. It is similar, a thing I do feel like this class is similar to other classes I have taken. It reminds me a lot of my FYE class that I took at another institution.  

1. Question/Comment: What is similar to or different from the expectations you had for this course?

The expectations are similar to other courses I have taken online. I have taken very few online classes, which I am not a fan of, I would much rather be in classes to hear the discussions and instructions from instructor and classmates.

5. Question/Comment: How do the outcomes for the course align with your goals for writing and for college?

I am hoping that this course helps strengthen my writing skills and become a more confident writer.

1. Question/Comment: What does the list of goals for your course tell you about what is valued at your institution?

The list of goals provided for this course tells me that this institution takes the writing process seriously. Indiana Tech wants student to be successful throughout their educational career.

Hello Ricardo,

I think overall this is a good read.  I too, am pleasantly surprised that this course has less essay writing due each week.  I hope to also strengthen

my skills and become a more confident writer.

I agree with your definitions. I was just as suprised with the amount of writing due each week. I believe that this class will strengthen our writing skills.
