My history as a writer and reader

Reading develops people's brains and gives them the ability to understand their lives and their surroundings more effectively. A person also gets to build grammar and language significantly. By reading many materials, one also gets to learn new vocabulary, and new words, not to mention new knowledge is acquired. Not only have I learnt a lot of things by being a good reader, but I have also found an excellent hobby that makes my life so adventurous and exciting. In this paper, I will give you a history of my life as a writer and reader.

According to my mother, I began reading as an infant. My mother would loudly read me books as she soothed me when crying or to sleep. As I was growing up, mum continued to read me more and more books, before she eventually taught me how to read on my own. Since then, I got a great attachment to books. Unlike other children's rooms that are frequently filled with stuffed animals and toys, my room was full of books. The exposure to writers from a young age is what has driven me into writing today.

Growing up, I had a high imagination to the extent that it disrupted my regular running. It is in the second grade that my teacher encouraged me to write down ideas when they came into my mind. This became the beginning of my life of writing. I began by reading stories, recreating them, before eventually changing and adapting them to become my own. In secondary school, I learnt how to analyze, explain and create a thesis, among other writing techniques. Both in middle and higher learning, I took honours and advanced courses in English order to grow my passion for reading and writing. It is in senior school that my writing and reading skills excelled even further.

Today, reading has become a norm in my life. Not a day can pass without me reading a few pages. At times I find myself reading almost an entire book. Other times I have to balance reading with my different life schedules such as working, travelling, and attending to family duties. My main goal of reading books is to develop, learn, and feed my love for good stories.

For this reason, I prefer non-fictional stories over fictional ones, since I can pick some lessons from the books to real-life situations. I read diverse books, including marketing, business, lifestyle, relationships, cooking and gardening books, to name just but a few. My criteria for picking books are mostly guided by the knowledge that I am seeking at the moment.

Reading has made me a good writer since it boosts my vocabulary. The more language I learn while reading, the less afraid I am to use them in my content. Reading has also made writing so familiar to me, unlike many writers who greatly struggle with writing. Reading regularly is similar to integrating with different writers and experiencing their styles of writing. It is also important to mention that reading good books has made me a good writer. Currently, I write freely without giving it much taught. I also never seek complicated terms in my writing because I believe that simplicity is the best. In conclusion, I became a reader before I became a writer. I have learnt so much about writing and reading since I was a child hence the current confidence in writing. I intend to continue reading and writing for the rest of my life.
