ENG 108 – Summer A 2020 – MODULE SIX – WEEK SIX

Writing: Research Proposal 24 pts.

This Assignment can be placed in the Assignment area called CA Proposal Due 6/27 before 11:59 PM. That is when this course will officially end for us.

It must be a word doc and the file name must be 100 % correct:

Since this is your final, it is your turn to show me what you learned –no corrections will be allowed but I will give you feed back.

Rubric:

Everything we have done must be done as close to perfect as you can – above all get that MLA correct! The Professor deserves the right to take off points at her discretion.

Now you may understand why we did this course one assignment at a time. Each assignment was based/built upon the previous assignment. I did not load them up all at once because I had to be sure you were doing things correctly so that the following assignment would be correct. I was slow and deliberate for this reason. I needed to make sure you were successful at each task and could move on to the next.

Models were given for you to follow throughout the course. This model is an essay written by an International student last summer!

Also, I allowed a lot of flexibility with dates due to time issues around the world and I wanted to work with you.

I gave you breaks between some of the assignment so that you could relax and work on other courses if you had them.

Directions:

You just did the Proposal Discussion. This was to prepare and force you to Pre-write for this part of the essay.

There is no additional essay to write, you will add one section to your Research Essay and One Peer Reviewed Source minimum. The prompts were in the Pre Writing and must be in the Proposal Section of your essay.

As always, I have supplied a model/sample. Read it slowly and carefully before you do yours. There are notes after the Works Cited in the sample.

Step by Step

1. After your Conclusion, you will add another subtitle:

2. Then you will state what idea you have that will work as an answer or addition to your research problem or research question.

3. Then you will research your idea to see if it has already been done or get some ideas for your proposal problem solving idea. It may not match exactly what you had in mind, but parts of it may work! This means you need a minimum of one Peer Reviewed source with the URL of course. You should already have it in your Proposal Discussion with an academic discussion and answers you can use for this section/of your essay.

4. Add your new Peer Reviewed Source into your Works Cited in alphabetical order.

5. The state your idea or proposal; what your source says about your idea/proposal. Do not be afraid if it is negative. Maybe the source has a different or counter idea. Do you remember this from Rhetoric (Tusay - Lecture Week Two Summer A 2020)?

6. Let us know if your idea/solution is Feasible (can it be done). Remember you have to have proof from your source.

7. Let us know if your idea/solution is Viable (can it be used long term also known as sustainable). Remember you have to have proof from your source.

8. Is there an opportunity for growth, money or something else involved? Remember, solutions are usually created to bring about opportunity in all careers and in your life.

I really think that my idea of using technology to solve a polluted water sight can work. According to Umar et al. “The application of ultraviolet (UV) light technology in water and wastewater treatment over recent decades has increased significantly and continues to grow in two broad areas: disinfection (including antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and genes (ARGs)), and oxidation of organic contaminants” ( 924). This is feasible because it has been done in some degree before. It works long-term because people are concerned about the spread of bacteria for health reasons and it has been successful (Umar et al. 937). This makes it viable. The people do not have to move away from the water supply they are used to and its cultural significance and there is opportunity for local people to be taught how to use this technology. This opportunity will be money that can be made for the community and a new industry can give people jobs,
