Research project topic selection

My chosen degree field is in Logistics, but I am currently a lab assistant at a company named Magnolia Diagnostics. We test urine, feces, and covid samples. I hope to one day work at a company such as Amazon as an operations manager or something that allows me to deal with process enhancement. I enjoy taking an already established system and figuring out how to make it more time effective or money efficient. Given my desire to improve processes I decided I would go into logistics as my chosen career field.

Now, when it came to picking a research topic, I decided to go with something simple and relevant, vaccines. Vaccines are a hot topic right now given the covid-19 pandemic, and with so many people afraid of the vaccine due to the quickness of production, I thought it would be interesting to research the normal vaccine production rate and factors that play into it. This is relevant to me in that my current job deals with testing for diseases that vaccines are created to prevent, and I would get to investigate the logistics behind creating and producing a vaccine. Not only is this topic applicable to my current job but I can also tie in my chosen degree field into the research question.

All of this being taken into consideration, the research question I have chosen for this assignment is as follows: What is the feasibility of creating a safe and effective vaccine in under a year? I like this question because it will cover all aspects of the initial curiosity I had on the matter while remaining argumentative in nature, allowing for it to retain an essence of persuasiveness. One source I may consider for this project is a website called “The History of vaccines” as well as vaccine case studies and academic papers on vaccine development.
