Respond to the prompts below in a minimum total of 175 words.
· Identify the broad topic, narrowed idea, and research question you selected and explain why you chose them.
· What interests you academically or personally about your selections?
My bachelor is correction program support services. I chose criminal justice and security as my broad topic and background checks as my narrowed idea, because after I get this degree, I want to go to law school. I know potential law students should get a degree in political science, but I want something I would be interested in to fall back on just in case I don’t go to law school.
Background checks should be mandatory at all companies in the United States for all employees. A background check provides the employer with a guide on determining the new employes behavior on the job. It lets the employer know if this new person will have any problems adjusting to the atmosphere, or if they’re a potential security risk. When an employer chooses not to do a background check, they could be aiding an illegal immigrant or a fugitive. Illegal immigrants sent home twenty-six billion dollars from January 2017 to November 2017. That money should have gone to roads, public schools, detention centers, police departments, hospitals and the homeless. Finally, background checks should be instituted at every employer because they are a societal norm. The companies that perform the background checks pay taxes and employ Americans. A working economy is a good economy. I tried creating three reasons why background checks should be required for all employees for all companies, and I think I succeeded, but I do not agree with forcing business owners to do something they don’t want to do. Companies should only do background checks if they deem it necessary.
