The Ban on Abortions

Why is it the governments right to decide whether a woman should keep a child she doesn’t want. In other words what constitutes this? It violates Human rights. I believe education on abortions are critically important however, being educated on abortions can help women decide if they rather do so or not, but it should be their right to do so.

I am interested in the problem because I am a black woman and for many years I was against abortions. I grew up with a religious up bringing where my family did not support those ideas of abortions. Realizing the woman disparities in a black community shifted my opinion on abortions. Lack of education on contraceptives, low income, and lack of access to proper health care are just a few of the disparities that effect black woman decisions on abortions. It’s a moral issue that infringes women’s bodily autonomy.

My perspective is it’s against bodily autonomy, which is why I stand with abortion rights and my articles of choice is how to keep abortions right. My perspective and the perspective of the first article gives insight on the disparities of woman of color when dealing with abortion. My perspective coincides with the second article perspective by bringing light to the disparities with the lack of proper health care access for woman of color.

How to Save Abortion Rights

This article poses ideas to maintain and amplify rights to abortion for under-privileged woman.

Neither article mentions the correlation between non marriage and abortion. Statistically more abortions account for unmarried woman.

“Despite the gains made since the legalization of abortion, the promise of Roe v. Wade  has not been fully realized for many women of color. A rising wave of restrictive abortion laws is affecting women across the country, and women of color are more likely to live in states with the most restrictive abortion laws.”

This is significant because this indicates although that black woman is leading in abortions, they have no support in the health care system.

“Williams listed four ways to protect a woman’s right to choose. One way is that Congress should codify the right to abortion into federal law.”

This is significant because with a federal law being in place this protects a women’s bodily autonomy.

Questions?

What would be the beneficial outcome of banning abortions long term? If black woman had the proper access to health care could that lower the chances of abortions?
