Subject: Communication Leadership Training Proposal for Listening

Per your request, I propose we include the effective listening as a topic in the communication leadership-training seminar for incoming staff. This proposal will address what company needs, training objectives, program design and will provide all the essentials of leadership communication mentoring good listening practices within a company.

Need

Listening is critical for success in today's fast-changing, competitive, global organizations (Zabava Ford, Wolvin, and Chung, 2000). For a long period, the company experienced various communication complications that affect the ability of the company to be fully effective in its daily communication framework. According to research conducted by Adler and Elmhurst, most of the leaders only listen at 25% efficiency and misunderstand more than 75% of information even they spend 65%-90% of the working day listening to someone. Poor communication affects the delegation of duty and other essential practices that reflects on the interest of the company in a negative way.

Objective

The seminar focuses on achieving organizational efficiency in terms of effective listening. It focuses on ensuring that positive ideals are introduced within the company that focus on the positive outlook within the company (Macik-Frey, 2017). I also interviewed my manager, Qing Wang, a marketing director at CITIC Securities. She said if we listen effectively, we will process information accurately, and people perceive us to be someone with good communication skills.

Program Design

Effective listening will increase the ability of communication between employees and leaders. Listening Style Inventory (LSI) by Jianying Lu is a great beginning to help people to assess perceived listening ability. This assessment raises listeners' awareness of their listening deficiencies. Firstly, everyone will join the Listening Style Inventory assessment before the session. According to the anonymous results, we will get the listening skill outcome of each employee. Then we will share strategies to increase listening skills during the training session. For example, how to control external and internal distractions, what is the benefit for a leader to encourages better listening behaviors in the team, and how effective listening training using in the work.

Outcomes

The employees are expected to adapt to receive accurate information from leader and co-worker, building trust within the team, and show others we care about. Coordination and integration is key for the success of the initiative as it determines the direction the company would take.
