Final Exam Project

Connecting Rod Assembly

Project due at the final exam scheduled time. Late papers zero credit

Draw each of the detail parts with dimensions by hand first and then move to Solid Works and prepare SW drawings for the parts and an assembly.

This is a team project of no more than two per team (max! / do not ask) or you can work alone.

Plagiarized or copied files shall result in an F in the course.

Sketches / hand drawings:

1. Given the handout, scale each of the part sizes using the scale given. Sketch by hand each of the six parts and dimension each part accordingly. Use dividers to measure the part sizes. Use white quad lined, engineering green, or grid vellum paper. Draw the sketch at full or half size. It will save a significant amount of time when you move to the Solid Works drawing. Be neat with the hand drawing and include the dimensions.

Solid Works Detail Drawings :

1. Part drawing number. FE1901 and your initials.

2nd dwg part number is FE1902 and your initials etc.

2. Notes located in the upper left corner of the drawing.

UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED:

Add applicable notes for the detail parts.

3. If insufficient room and the drawing is crowded use a second sheet

4. Drawing title block shall be the standard SW format template.

5. Fill in the tolerances, material etc information.

6. Use ANSI / ips format. ISO format shall be zero credit.

Solid Works Assembly Drawing:

1. Part number shall be FE19100 and your initials.

2. Notes located in the upper left corner of the drawing.

UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED:

Add applicable notes for the assembly such as cleaning parts prior to assembly, part number identification etc

3. Show the assembly together and with a side and front view with the balloons.

4. Do not crowd the assembly drawing and if insufficient room then add a second sheet. Sheet 1 shall have the notes and Bill of Materials and isometric view of the assembled part. Sheet two, show the part assembly and balloon callouts.

Model Verification:

Instructor shall verify the model. 5 point deduction on grade if the model has not been verified.

Deliverable Documentation:

1. Hand sketches with dimensions for each of the parts. Request that each sketch is professional looking, neat and organized, and the dimensions shown on the sketch match the Solid Works drawings.

2. Five part drawings using Solid Works.

3. One assembly drawing using Solid Works.

4. Assembly drawing shall be first sheet followed by the detail part drawings.

5. Evaluation form filled out. You can turn these in separately from the package if needed.

Misc Information:

1. Do not include pictures of the model.

2. No drawing required for the cotter key.

3. Clevis pin info use McMaster.

4. Assembly is secured to a base using .190 dia screws.

5. Surface finish on the shaft and pins is 63.

6. Clearance fit between the pins and shaft is RC2.

7. Do not put documents into a plastic folder.

8. Turn you project into me directly.

9. No emails for the final exam project.

10. One drawing package per team.

11. Late packages shall be zero credit.

12. Due date is the final exam scheduled day and time. Early submittals are acceptable.
