Instructions: In one long paragraph (see above), discuss one current, national, or local event and why it is important to you. Be very specific.

Things to Note:

(1.) You may write about any current affairs topic (for example, the upcoming presidential election, the Black Lives Matter movement, the protests, climate change, the Tik Tok app controversy, etc. Whatever interests you.)

(2.) Your midterm topic must be controversial (it must argue for one side of two possible opposing viewpoints).

(3.) Your topic may relate to another country other than the United States.

(4.) Use a topic sentence; it comes first in the paragraph and states the topic of the paragraph. The topic sentence controls the focus of the paragraph.
