He argued that the dependency on the internet changes the way of thinking as well as the structure and the function of the brain. Carr give the reasons for the effects of the internet asserting that; the internet is changing the way of thinking, reading habit and the aspect of remembering the learned concepts. He points out that, the internet is associated with loose of concentration for the learners including contemplation. In most cases, people waked up in the morning and became nervous on what has been posted on social media platforms. One may worry about what is there in the email or even Facebook posts. The internet is addictive and once one develops the nature of spending most of the time on it, its absence requires a content of stimulation. The internet causes destruction and also one lose focus because spending most of the time online, and interestingly most of the social media user's minds experience the hunger when they are offline. In his explanation, Nicholas Carr applied both behavioral and neurological approaches to help him examine how the social media especially internet shapes and modifies our mind's habits. The media leads to the division of the attention of the learners because the richness of people's memory and thoughts depends on the frequency. People get interrupted when looking at the computers either or even the mobile phone hence brain fails to adhere to the neural connections that promote distinctiveness of our thinking. Carr's added that people are watching very busy social media presentations recall just a portion of the content than the group taking the information in a and focused way. The bottom line is therefore that, technology has had a negative impact on our attention and therefore grasping of concepts. Comment by Windows User: I don’t follow this. Comment by Windows User: Right word? Comment by Windows User: Is this Carr’s argument? Or yours?

The Carr's argument seems to be based on the negative influence of the social media in the life of the people associated with the interruption of the mind, thinking, and concentration and loose of focus for the learners. From the life experience on the influence of the internet on the people, the Carr's argument is not an exaggeration. The social media has far-reaching even to the upcoming generation where the young children are misusing it by accessing the pornographic materials imparting immorality in the society. (Carr, 2010). Morality has declined significantly in the modern world, and the biggest blame is to be borne by technology. Comment by Windows User: loss Comment by Windows User: Does Carr mention pornography?

Also, the internet leads to time wastage. However, centrally to what Carr's perceives on the influence of the internet, people have the schedule to access the internet, and people get online when they have free time. Besides, the internet helps people to get relevant information within the shortest time possible. In educational settings, learners carry out research online and get in touch with their facilitator through use of emails. The strengths of Carr's arguments point out to the nervousness that people have on the social media and has constructed and researched several views in his work to address the effect of the internet to the changing of the people. He admits the aspects of the culture of reading from the website and the mental relations and connection from the internet. However the weakens of his statement is that he ignored the positive aspects of the technology and its influence on the people in the society, (Carr, 2008).

In conclusion, the advancement in technology influences the way of life to the public. The media act as an agent of socialization in the community. When used well it enhances development in the nation.

As you revise: 1/3 of the essay should be a summary of Carr’s argument, and 2/3 should be YOUR REPONSE to the opinion that you summarize. Do you agree, disagree, or both? What quotes could you use to back your opinion? And why do you feel this way?
