Implementing Truth Tables with Multiplexers
Objectives:
1. To implement a truth table using a Multiplexer
Background: Previously in lab to implement any truth tables you went through and did
a K-Map on the table and then created the circuit with discrete gates. With multiplexers
it is possible to go straight from a truth table to a circuit. You will use this idea in this
class to quickly implement a truth table.
Materials:
75LS151A 8 to 1 MUX
3 330 Ohm Resistors
Dip Switches
Procedure:

1. Start be wiring your Dipswitch. You will need 3 inputs to wire to the
multiplexer Be sure to wire one side of the switch to +5V and the other side
have a 330 ohm resistor going to ground.
2. Wire you three inputs from your switch to the input select pins to the
multiplexer.
3. Wire the inputs of the multiplexer to either +5V or to ground as appropriate
to implement the truth table above.
4. Wire digital inputs 0-2 to the three select inputs of the multiplexer and digital
input 3 to the output of the multiplexer.
5. Verify with your instructor that your circuit works.
