Including Record Consumption in 2018

2019 Update: 4,118 million MWh

Also: Industrial Load Leveled Off Prior to COVID-19

4

Weather impact on usage is a primary driver

Load varies substantially daily and on weekends (duty cycle)

This spring was relatively mild; warmer summer

COVID-19 consequences:

Industrial and commercial consumption is lower

Residential consumption is higher

Overall 8-14% demand reduction in March and April

Morning load pickup has shifted

Renewable generation unchanged, but now a higher percentage

New York (NYISO) most significant

NYCA (New York Control Area) averaging 8-9% reduced demand

New York City averaged 13-14% reduced demand through May

NYC currently 7-9% below typical demands
