EEC1970 – Module 04

Number & Strategy

Implementation & Age Group – How would you implement

this strategy for the selected age group?

Promoting Self-Esteem – How does this strategy promote self-esteem?

Example for Selected Age Group – What would you say to the

children?

Adaptation for Different Age Group – How would you adapt the

strategy? And what would you say to the children of a different age group?

10 Give Directions

Five-year-old children

After clean-up time, I

would give them an auditory prompt, and then I would give the direction

for getting dressed to go outside.

This strategy promotes self-esteem because it demonstrates that I know

they are capable of doing the tasks. It also acknowledges that I

understand their desire to get some fresh air and active play.

I would say, "First, all the children wearing red, it is time to go to your cubby to get ready for going outside." Then, once at their cubby, "Please put on your jacket and give the zipper a try." I would repeat for all children

Another adaption I might need to make for either age group is to call a particular child by name

and then repeat the directions to help the child focus on my directions.

I would say, “All of the children wearing red, it is time to go to your cubbies, put on your jackets or sweaters, and come sit down on the carpet area, so we can all enjoy some fresh air and playtime outside.” Repeat with additional colors for all children.
