Write a summary and review of a scholarly article related to engineering ethics.

· This assignment is intended to help you to start finding quality sources and analyzing topics in engineering ethics.

· You may try to find an article you can use as a source for your Term Paper! (not required)

1. Go to http://library.csuohio.edu/

2. Click on the “Journals” tab.

3. Search for “Science and engineering ethics.” (For instance.)

or

4. Click on Ohiolink

5. Click on Electronic Journal Center (EJC)

6. Search for “engineering ethics.” (For instance.)

7. Browse articles within the journal regarding engineering ethics.

8. Select an article to review which is of interest to you and print out a hard copy.

9. Read the paper carefully.

· The paper you select should be a minimum of 5 pages.

· The paper must be relevant to a moral issue in Engineering Ethics! Choose something you are interested in.

· Do not use papers on the topic of teaching Engineering Ethics.

In your paper:

· Describe the author, title, and purpose of the article in your first paragraph.

· Summarize: Outline the author's point of view and the main points of the argument which is presented. Be sure to capture the author's main ideas – do not leave out crucial elements of the paper.

· Respond to the author's position. Do you agree or disagree? What is useful or problematic about the author's view? Other thoughts?

· Support your view as clearly and rationally as you can.

· Refer to moral theories, principles, and issues discussed in class when appropriate.

· How does the issue relate to the professional role of the engineer as discussed in class?

· Include a formal citation for the article.

· Do not rely on quotes. After you have presented exact quotes, describe the author's ideas using your own words and examples.

· Be clear about whether you are expressing your own ideas or the author's ideas.

· Utilize CSU research databases and online engineering ethics databases in your research.

· For expert help using CSU research databases, consult with a librarian!

· Please upload a copy of the article in the Assignments tab on Blackboard!

· This assignment is intended to help you practice finding, analyzing, and citing quality sources.

· *If you know what your Term Paper topic will be, you may choose an article that will be a source for your Term Paper later on.
