S.M.A.R.T. PLAN to increase company profit
Edward Smith
Specific Goal
Deliver products to customers at a faster pace than competition
Increase the quality of products
Develop and train employees
How will goals be measured?
Workers from the warehouse and customer service field will be put in training interventions where they are expected to process products at 30 percent higher rate than normal performance metrics.
Metrics will be measured on a quarterly basis to ensure goals are being met and management will work with employees firsthand to guide and mentor them. Maintaining trainees' confidence can be difficult when they are faced with new challenges. However, trainees' confidence can increase when experienced trainers and coaches offer them "guided mastery" experiences through a series of training tasks that gradually increase in difficulty” (Youssef-Morgan & Stark, 2014, p. 8.2).
When can these goals be attained?
The organization will be able to meet new performance standard and receive new perks after 18 months.
Are goals realistic?
Due to the growth of competition and consumer demands, the goal is worthwhile because it create more growth for employees and success for the company in the future.
I am the right person to develop and monitor this goal because I am in charge of developing talent and creating performance goals for the organization.
Do we have the funds needed to provide a training program?
The HR department will have to use allocated funds from other resources within the company, which will prevent the company from having to borrow money or bankrupt during the training process.
Access learning needs
Visual-Learners will be able to see video demonstrations on faster production
Tactile- Hands on training will be done after e-learning
Auditory- Gaining feedback from management and collaborative learning with peers
Online Training
A software program will be used to demonstrate to workers on how they need to perform. The online program will also give workers scenarios to choose from in regards to selecting the most logical choice when performing.
The e-learning program will also educate staff on safety guidelines and quality.
E-Learning
“The blended-learning intervention components included: attending a one-time 4-hour in-person faculty-facilitated seminar and small-group learning session, plus completing five e-learning modules with actual teammates, which required them to asynchronously collaborate online” (Diukic, et. al., 2015, p. 477).

Employee Growth
To ensure that employees reach their full potential during the training process, human resources will implement a skills database system. “Maintaining a skills database that indexes trainees by industry, process, platform knowledge, and competency can help companies identify the right engineers for each job or project, track skills development over time, and identify areas for potential cross training” (Gavin, 2014, p. 48).
Performance Increase
Besides keeping workers satisfied and motivated through the skills database system, the company will also be able to save money on manpower and recruiting. Due to the skills database system, employees will have the ability to multitask which will further increase the speed of delivering products.
Ensuring Quality
“Inspection is the process of measuring, examining, and testing to gauge one or more characteristics of a product or service and the comparison of these with specified requirements to determine conformity” (Shah, 2010). Using inspection is an aspect of quality insurance that will make sure that products are not damaged which will further increase customer satisfaction because customers will not complain in regards to receiving the wrong or broken product.
Employees will be able to engage in a simulation where they be will be timed on how fast they can process each order.
Workers will also be able to go through all the work procedures that they learned in e learning and apply them.
Trainers will be able to self evaluate themselves along with receiving feedback from upper management.
Training Principles
Promote learning
Demonstrate skills
Monitor behavior
Transformative teaching
Long Term Evaluation
Evaluation will be made through the increase in productivity after 1 year.
“Five specific ‘motivation factors’ were identified as those specific features of work which are capable of providing job satisfaction – achievement, recognition (for achievement), the work itself, responsibility and advancement – and which share the distinction of being intrinsic to the work” (Evans & Olumide-Aluko, 2010, p. 75) . After goals have been met, employees will be able to move up in rank, get a pay increase, and get recognized for their contribution to the company.
