EDUC 5480 Assignment Guidelines Instructor Manual Criteria (240 points)
Part 1. Context (40 points)
• The context of the program is clear (e.g., driver of development, performance or opportunity gap, stakeholders, expected outcomes).
• The learner profile provides a comprehensive view of learner characteristics. • The session’s goal is clearly stated and consistent with other aspects of the context.
Part 2. Instructional Plan (120 points)
Design
• Instructional plan has a clear structure and focus. • Performance/learning objectives seem appropriate given the context, especially the learner
profile. • Participants’ meeting the objectives would likely bridge the problem or opportunity gap. (Or
might something else that is unstated be needed?) • The techniques/activities support achievement of the performance objectives. • The content covered supports achievement of the performance objectives. • Supporting Instructional materials and media are specified. • Ways to measure participants’ success in carrying out performance objectives are included. • Participants are provided information on performance/learning objectives, expected
outcomes and course information. • Interactions with participants are spelled out. • Feedback is indicated. • Actions for continued development after the session ends are discussed.
Part 3. Assessment and Evaluation Approaches (40 points)
• Ways to measure participants’ success in carrying out performance objectives are included in the instructional plan.
• Formal assessment (s) used before, during and after the learning assessment are described along with information on the rationale for using them and how results will be used (if applicable).
• Evaluation approach(es) to be used are clearly described. • The tasks needed to design, develop and implement the evaluation approach(es) are
specified.
Format and Mechanics (40 points)
• The writing consists of clear, logically organized sentences and/or bulleted information. • Word choices are appropriate, clichés avoided and writing shows understanding of
terminology. • There is no or little redundancy. • Grammar, punctuation, and spelling are accurate
