Overview
edTPA Practice Task 3 is a simulation to formatively assess and assist in preparing for the summative official tasks prepared and submitted during your student teaching. For MAT candidates, this assignment is to be submitted both in LiveText
and
Canvas. All the materials you need to complete this assignment are found in LiveText. See the Course Syllabus and review the LiveText statement in the Course Resources section to determine if you are required to submit this assignment in LiveText.
If you are an M.Ed. or Ed.S. candidate and do not plan to seek licensure after your coursework, please complete the
Alternative Assignment for M.Ed. or Ed.S. Candidates: Standardized Test Reviews.
Instructions
All materials necessary to complete this assignment are found in LiveText. There, you will be provided with assessment data from a hypothetical student teacher. The packet of material will include a unit of lesson plans, student work samples, pre- and post-test scores, etc. You will use these materials to complete the edTPA Task 3 Assessment Commentary.
1. Begin this assignment by reviewing the edTPA Handbook provided for your endorsement area. For this assignment, candidates seeking middle childhood endorsements will use the Secondary materials. Please see the codes below so you are aware of which submission tab is for your content area:

2. Next, review each of the edTPA portfolio items provided in the edTPA Sample Portfolio folder,
paying particular attention to the Task 3 items. Items under Task 1 and 2 are there to provide context for your assignment.
3. Assessment Commentary:
· Type your responses between the brackets [ ] using Arial 11-point font and single-spaced with 1” margins on all sides.
· No hyperlinked content is permitted.
· Incorporate academic language in complete sentences and paragraphs.
· Refer to specific examples in the student work samples.
· Your commentary should be at least 5 single-spaced pages, including prompts, and must not exceed 8 pages.
· Refer to the sample Assessment Commentary responses provided.
