1. ECT424/IS324 Assignment Two: WordPress Site
Assignment: Due class four, (20 points)
Since you have control of the site, you can continue to update throughout the class.
1. Secure a hosted site which will be available through the last day of grading for the quarter (so I
must have access that lasts through the last day to submit grades.
2. Install Wordpress (WP) (you might want to run the update to latest version) on your site (using
Softaculous)
a. You must do this to submit the site; if this step is not completed, you will not receive
credit for subsequent assignments.
b. You must install your WordPress site so it is accessible from the URL
http://YOURDOMAINNAME.SUFFIX/SUMMER2018 (it MUST be installed in the
SUMMER2018 directory)
c. Note that URLs are not case sensitive unless you are using a Microsoft server (don’t, if
you can avoid doing so.) If case sensitive, place your entire URL in lowercase. Do not
put any spaces in your URL. Wordpress must be installed in the /SUMMER2018
directory.
3. Provide me with an admin level account and pw. You must provide me with my own admin
privileged account to your WordPress site with the username rk424324 and the pw
ect424is324// (lowercase). [I will be changing this password once I grade this assignment].
a. My name should be Rajeev Kumar, email [email protected] or
b. Do NOT email me my account information. There are too many of you!
4. Create a post (front page -- ie when I land on your url I will see this article) on your site
containing your context material (from Web Assignment 1). Do NOT make your front page a
static page (or portal). Be sure to delete all default posts and comments from the site.
5. Submit to D2L a document containing your url and a statement to the effect that you have
created my admin account. Include the url and password in this document!
i. If you don’t tell me where your site is I can’t grade it.
ii. Be sure that you do NOT use my account for the creation of any posts, or to
administer the site. You must have your own administrative account for testing
of functionality.
