Economic Environment of TJX Companies

The modern economic environment is primarily based on aspects that promote a company's engagement with its stakeholders, especially the customers. Moreover, it demands firms to keep track of other essential factors, including the rate of competition, inflation, employment, media and the general public, and investors. Every for-profit institution around the group concentrates on increasing the wealth of its customers and promoting profitability. However, achieving these demands for a better understanding of some of the internal components that would help in reducing the number of obstacles may either hinder productivity or promote its competitiveness in the domestic market. Some of these aspects include the cost of production, labor economics, production theory as well as demand, supply, and equilibrium. Notably, the overall growth of TJX Company has been over the years attributed to its ability to understand both internal and external environment, and employ viable measures to capitalize or limit the available opportunities. The company aims at realizing its goals through an increase in the use of modern technology to help in the reduction of its production expenses.

Over the years, the company has banked on strategies such as providing quality products and services that match both tastes and preferences of its customers in areas such as waste management, logistics, associate engagement as well as measurement and reporting. However, irrespective of these initiatives, TJX's success is still subject to different economic functions (Bailey, 2019). These aspects have both direct and indirect influences on the firm. As such, depending on the movement of the economy, the company's growth can either be positive or negative.

TJX domestic environment is also characterized by factors such as government regulation that have a significant effect on the company's local operation operations. For instance, availability of different types of federal and state taxes such as excise, income, and employment taxes has limited the firm's ability to invest or increase its financial stability beyond a specific point (Lister, 2019). Labor regulations, on the other hand, hinder the terms of employment the company may make with its employees. Lastly, consumer protection initiatives developed by the government hamper the techniques the entity may use to not only promote its products in the market, but also affect how the structure of their advertisements is established.

These restrictions in the field provide an overview of the American market where TJX primarily operates. In a healthy environment, the government is only tasked with the development of policies that would help in promoting effective operations and limiting consumer exploitation (TJX Companies Inc., 2019). However, both the state and federal governments in this market actively participate in the monitoring of how companies operate. According to Rostow, the government plays a significant role in enhancing development of the marginal social capital (Mallick, 2005). These initiatives, according to the theorist, help in preparing the economy for take-off.

As such, the American economy can then be considered a sustainable consumption economy that only concentrates on identifying its growth limit and assessing current growth trends. Every aspect of the economy is well-established, and institutions such as TJX are expected to adhere to the already existing rules and regulations. Although the market operates freely, these policies still play an active role in its stabilization. From Rostow's perspective, the market can be considered to be in the take-off stage where economic processes rather than traditions drive the society (Mallick, 2005). The stage is characterized by aspects such as the shift in economic flows through taxation and implementation of different fiscal measures and reinvestment of profits. TJX can, therefore, resort to exploring other transitions pathways that can enable the firm to remain competitive in the local and international markets.

Galbraith's theory of the business, on the other hand, notes that the central purpose of a firm is survival that demands the need to earn enough profit and provide sufficient making for investment (Dunn & Pressman, 2005). As a company operating in the American market, TJX has to ensure it conforms to the domestic environment before implementing strategies for the economic climate. He also emphasized that antitrust efforts should be abandoned and that firms should concentrate on improving their techno-structure that will in the long-run aid in developing budgets and benefit from economies of scale.

As an advanced economy, winning the confidence of consumers requires development or provision of quality goods and services. TJX has in the past been categorized as one of the worst firms in the country due to its inability to provide better pay, poor management, and rigidity in increasing wages or promoting employees. These classifications were made in comparison to the regulations developed by the government that stipulate terms of employment, including the minimum payment. Notably, these aspects may promote poverty in the long run, which in turn may have adverse effects on industrialization and overall growth of the economy.

Considering the principles of the two theories, for TJX to enjoy dominating the American market, it must be conversant with both domestic and macro environments. America is an advanced economy where the governments only make policies, but forces determine demand and supply patterns. Americans are keen on some of the essentials that motivate them to work and also promote their overall wellbeing. Factors such as adequate play and proper promotion mechanisms may help in improving the operations of TJX in the country. Moreover, for the firm to survive in the industry, it has to ensure production of quality goods and services. This can, however, be achieved only by maintaining a techno-structure initiative (Dunn & Pressman, 2005). This will not only help the company with identifying mechanisms to improve their competitive edge, but also reduce overall operational cost.

The barriers raised by the internal regulations such as increasing the operational cost of the firm and reducing consumer purchasing power can be minimized if the firm, through diversifying its operations into different markets, entails focusing on beyond the American market. Concentration on one market only may consequently affect the company's ability to regain its position. This means that TJX will be forced to redesign its internal procedures to be not only favorable to its employees, but also conform to the laws of the country.

The company should also ensure it has a comprehensive research and development department that would be in charge of assessing the trends of the market and formulating achievable approaches that can enable it to regain its image in the domestic market. TJX will also have to properly review some of the economic issues affecting the industry and implement a viable approach that will help in reducing its effects. Similarly, its management should ensure the firm understands all the legal requirements needed to operate in a specific area before launching activities. This will assist in limiting some unexpected challenges such as payment and promotion of employees.
