Hi Jennifer, When you said" disabled people should live stress free lives in terms of their health as Social Security and Medicare are rights to individuals that qualify for these programs." does this mean that the disabled do not need to work at all and should be completely taken care of or should they be required to contribute as much as they reasonably can? For example the blind are disabled but they can do many jobs, same for a plethora of other disabilities. Naturally, some disabled can't work and I don't believe they should have to, but for the ones that can do some work, should they be required to?

I generally do my best to avoid discussing political subjects, therefore I typically just don't talk about them. However, as a human being and as citizens of this nation, we wouldn't be where we are today without the elderly and disabled. The elderly and disabled have paved the way for us to get to where we are now. Without each every elderly and disabled person's individual life journeys and parts played in the our environment there would not be anything left to improve from. There would also not be anything to learn from or no room for improvement in society. The sacrifices that were made by the elderly and disabled by being some of the first to have to endure the trials and tribulations before us deserves some sort of comfort and assurance of letting them know that all their years of hard work have not be a waste. Therefore I do believe that we have a responsibility to make sure that the elderly and disabled have the best chance at living out the rest of their lives in peace with the least amount of stress as possible and they should be welcomed in the constantly changing society, not just dumped in a home or hospital or home to die unless absolutely necessary. We need to do all that we can to show them that we appreciate all that they have done and the things they had to endure before us.

Secondly the government should increase taxes of the wealthy and make the requirements for abused government assistance programs stricter. The money saved could be used to help support the elderly and disabled as well as the tax money from the wealthy being split up to help.

I agree the Indians should have never joined either side of forces for many reasons but I am sure the Indians were mislead once again since that is all the American's knew to do. The American's on both side probably promised the Indians the world but receive nothing in return. However, as Americans today we have a right to praise them on this National Holiday Day known as Veteran's Day for the service that they provided.

I can definitely see why the Indians saw an opportunity to join the Confederacy as a way to hopefully save their people and achieve independence, and as a way to join forces to fight back against the government who had already been removing them and killing them. You are right about slavery being synonymous between the Confederacy and tribes like the Cherokees. I do believe that, even though the Confederates/Indians lost the Civil War, it was still the right choice for most Native Americans to join the conflict. Combining forces gave them much better chances of resisting the government than, as was shown in many instances, trying to so alone. In the end it was just delaying the inevitable, but at least they were able to die fighting.
