Third Excel Assignment

Each of the following uses a procedure found in the PHStat menu, under Confidence Intervals or Sample Size. Each relies on the data in your Housing and Donations datafile.

Your work should be submitted in just ONE Excel file. Try to move all the relevant worksheets to the left so I can easily find them. Contact Dr. Rose if you have any trouble with this.

1. Using PHStat/Excel (instructions on p. 268 of the textbook), estimate the population mean level of annual charitable donations at the 95% confidence level. Remember: you do NOT know what the standard deviation of the population of donations is. (5 points)

If PHStat does not function properly on your computer, you can use the COMPUTE worksheet in the CIE sigma unknown workbook and follow the directions on p. 268. The workbook is available through the link on the course Moodle page. You may have already downloaded the file if you used workbooks on previous Excel assignments.
