Weekly Food for Thought…

March 23, 2021

Dear room 20 families

Good morning, this letter is to give our parents/ guardian a brief ideal of what your child do in the classroom and the technique that we use with them to make learning fun. As you all know, school is a place for learning but why just learn when you can make learning fun a well. Mrs. Joseph and I have been working with the students this week with learning colors, body parts, and ABCs. As we explain the activities with you, we hope that you continue doing these activities at home with your child/ children.

“RULE #1: Life Is Supposed To Be FUN”

According to Kenneth Ginsburg 2007, play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. I truly agree with him because I feel the same way. I feel that a child could learn all they need and be able to play at the same time. I think that playing will make them want to learn more and be more aware of what they or learning in the classroom.

Play in our classroom

With colors, we allow the children to run and get a toy and explain to the class what color is their toy. Then we allow them to guess their neighbors toy color if it is different. Learning the body parts is more fun. It gives the child/children a break to dance and learn at the same time. This song is on YouTube and its call the Tutti Ta dance. This dance allow the child to pick out a certain part of their body and point it out and use them in the dance. The Tutti Ta dance is a good dance to learn the body. We also sing the ABC song together as a group. Again, all the things we do that may consider playing is a learning experience for kids.

“EVERY MOMENT IS A FRESH BEGINNING”

Everything we do plays a role in the child development. With this learning experience, the child is using their physical, self-help, and cognitive domain. When they dance off the Tutti Ta song the child/children or using their physical domain they or using their hands, hips, legs etc. When they picking out a toy they or using their self-help. The fact that they or finding their own toy is they doing it along and working by themselves. Singing the ABC song is cognitive they or using their mind to remember the song and the letters that come after each other.
