Assignment F: Laboratory Report Paper – Part 2 (Complete Lab Report)

Due: Before the Start of Class, Week of 10/7/2019

Authorized Aid:

You are to work completely on your own. You cannot obtain feedback from others beyond what transpires in the classroom. You should not use any outside references aside from the ECE 211 Lecture Notes to prepare this assignment. If you want clarification on any aspect of the report, you must get it from the instructor. Your course notes, homework, and utilization of the Writing Center in the library are authorized aid.

Assignment:

Using Microsoft Word (or similar Word Processing software), write a complete laboratory report for the ECE 100 experiment, “Lab 02: Kirchhoff’s Laws”. This means revising your report from Assignment D and expanding it to include the Objective, Discussion, Conclusion, and Executive Summary sections. A completed set of data sheets has been included as a separate document with this assignment. You must follow all content and formatting guidelines presented in the lesson “Laboratory Reports.” Specifically, you must do the following:

1) Your laboratory report should be approximately 3 pages in length, excluding the cover page. The text is to be 12 point Times New Roman, double spaced, with one inch margins on each side.

2) Any figures and equations are to be integrated into the text as shown in the example on the following pages.

3) Create a cover page for your report that includes your name, course section and number, laboratory number and title, the date of submission, and lab partners. Write out and sign the honor code on the front of the cover page.

4) Write the Objectives of the experiment. These should clearly convey the purpose of the lab.

5) Write a Procedure to conduct the experiment in first-person, past tense. You must provide any schematics or diagrams needed in the experiment and state precisely any data that must be measured or calculated. Note: You must paraphrase (not copy directly) the provided procedure to receive credit for this section.

6) Present the provided measured data in a meaningful way in the Results section of your report. Remember to label any data, including units, and to use tables when appropriate.

7) Perform an Analysis on the data provided, including at least one sample calculation for each significant step. Your manipulated data should be presented clearly, using tables when applicable.

8) Provide a Discussion of the experiment, evaluating how the experimental results (dis)agree with their theoretical counterparts. Suggest any possible sources of error to explain any variations between experimental and theoretical data.

9) Offer a Conclusion from the experiment. Make sure to summarize the technical results, explain how they correspond to the objectives of the experiment, offer the high-level takeaways from the experiment, and discuss any mistakes made during the procedure. Recall that the intended audience of this section is other electrical and computer engineers.

10) Write an Executive Summary of the experiment that is appropriate for an audience of non-technical managers. Provide a brief overview of experimental methods and focus on whether the results agree with expected values. Include a high-level, big picture purpose of the experiment.

Formatting (10 Points)
