The purpose of executing research is to develop new knowledge and validate the existing one based on a specific theory. On the other hand, the purpose of conduction evidence-based practice is to take advantage of the best evidence available while making patient care decisions (Przybylski, 2017). In research, qualitative analysis is utilized to develop real-life situations and patient conditions. In EBP, the clinician should as factual and burning questions to the patient before coming to conclusions. In research, discovery happens when the gathered and analyzed data is transformed into relevant outcome information interpreted.

In contrast, in evidence-based practice, discovery occurs when evidence is integrated with patient preferences, clinical expertise, and the values resulting in the change or practice decision (Svantesson et al., 2017). During evidence-based practice, only the most relevant and crucial evidence data is utilized while coming into conclusions. In contrast, all the patient information is assessed and analyzed while coming up with decisions. The research applies the methodology to develop new knowledge, whereas EBP applies the best clinical evidence available.

To identify research from evidence-based practice, a question can be asked to convert the need for information, prevention, therapy, causation, and prognosis. Evidence-based practice will have a straightforward answer, while the research will contain answers demanding further explanation before common up with a conclusion. One can evaluate the clinician's type of decisions; research will contain conclusion and recommendation extracted from qualitative and quantitative studies, while evidence-based practice will contain decisions made from the best available clinical evidence. Research focuses on adjustments and feedback to detect any mistakes and misconceptions that could have been made. On the other hand, evidence-based practice comprises final and unchangeable decisions since the conclusions are made from factual evidence from the patient's condition. One can detect research if it contains room for changes and recommendations.
