EBM502 – assignment 2
Assignment 2
Welcome to Assignment 2. To successfully complete this assignment, you will need to do substantial research, reading, and study of the topics. In addition to the assigned readings found in the lesson area, you must conduct your own research using the university databases and other appropriate sources. Sources used should be peer-reviewed and published no more than six years ago.
The Assignment
Designing Your Project
Your project for this course is to design a research project, write about that project, and present the project. This module is all about the design.
To complete this task successfully first work through all learning resource activities:
The Plan
What do you hope to achieve by the end of your project?
· What is the problem to be addressed by your project?
· Write the Problem Statement briefly explaining the problem that the project will address.
What questions do you want your project to answer?
· Write the Research Aim in ONE sentence.
· Write 1 - 3 Research Questions.
The exact form of your question will depend on on the length of your project, the type of research , the topic , and the research problem . But all research questions should be focused, specific, appropriately complex, and relevant to a social or scholarly issue.
What specific steps will you take to achieve your research aim?
· Write the Research Objectives.
· Having clearly defined and meaningful objectives is a critical component of a successful research project as they narrow and focus the research, ensuring that the findings are relevant.
The research objectives drive all aspects of the methodology, including instrument design, data collection, analysis, and ultimately the recommendations.
Research objectives should be presented briefly and concisely, in logical sequence, be achievable, and use action verbs that are specific enough to be evaluated or measured (e.g., assess, determine, compare, verify, calculate, describe).
The Literature Review
Next, create your literature review. Find 8-10 sources of academic literature connected to the work you propose to do and analyze them to show how your research may fill or extend an existing gap. Compare and contrast the sources with each other and with your approach.
Remember that you must paraphrase the articles in your own words (appropriately referenced, of course) and synthesize their potential contribution to your research; they should not be presented as a 'list' of articles.
Your sources should be from refereed academic journals which will be found in the online library. You must cite your sources in your paper and list them in a reference list at the end of your paper, using the APA referencing system.
Deliverable
UPLOAD both the Plan and the Literature Review in one Word File which should be a minimum of 4 full pages as well as academic references.
Remember: All writing must be supported by academic (scholarly sourced) literature and will appear in APA format including proper in-text citations and references at the end. You must clearly cite each sentence that contains materials sourced from the lesson area and your academic resources. Your work will be checked for academic integrity by a plagiarism checking system.
