Early Childhood Project Plan
The Early Childhood Project must include practical classroom applications that could be used in the early childhood setting. A plan must be approved, resources chosen, an introduction paper written, and a PowerPoint presentation prepared. Check the Early Childhood Project Grading Rubric for specific grading criteria.
Options for Project Topics:
Select one of the topics below to complete your Early Childhood Project or submit your own topic to your instructor for approval.
1. Program Type. As an early childhood professional, you will need to make decisions on what to teach and how to teach it. Using your imagination, describe your early childhood setting. Then, choose either Montessori, HighScope, Reggio Emilia, Bank Street, or Creative Curriculum, and explain how you would implement this program type/curriculum in your classroom. As a Christian educator, how would you incorporate Biblical knowledge, Christian principles, or character development into your program? Highlight the unique aspects and some specific activities of the program you would include in your program. Include how special needs children would adapt to your program choice.
2. Multicultural Infusion. Select 5 children’s books that have multicultural content. Decide how you would use these materials to promote awareness and acceptance of diversity all year long. Include at least 1 application activity and 1 Biblical integration for each book.
3. Family Involvement. Develop a family involvement calendar for your preschool program.
a. Write objectives for the program.
b. Develop at least 1 specific activity each month that will involve families and help provide services to them (devote 1 slide to each activity). Include a Biblical principle for each month’s activity.
c. Include how you might involve fathers, language-minority families, and families of children with disabilities.
4. Curriculum. Choose an age group and theme and develop activities around a children’s book (include the specific title and author) that will cover the following 7 areas: math, language arts, science, physical activity, Bible, music and art. Include adaptations for special needs children if needed.

Early Childhood Plan (20 points):
Using this form, indicate the topic and proposed three scholarly resources for the Early Childhood Project in current APA format. A peer reviewed journal article retrieved from the Liberty Library would be considered a scholarly recourse. It should be current within the last five years and should relate to your topic and early childhood. It is assumed that you will use the textbook and NAEYC standards in your project. These three scholarly references are in addition to the text and NAEYC.org. If you have chosen topic 2 or 4, the books you will select should be included in your reference page but do not count as your scholarly resources.
