Summary:

This book described the importance of using literacy activities in all content areas. Current research with trends in literacy learning was discussed with examples of literacy activities given for multiple subject areas. This is important to my final project because the book’s contents and ideas will be used in the PowerPoint for the Early Childhood: Plan assignment with literacy examples given by subject area.

Summary:

This journal article discussed creative ways to teach using a famous children’s book. The instruction included lessons in math, language arts, science, physical education, Bible, music, and art. Post-test scores were taken from 50 students, half of whom received instruction using children’s literature while the other half received instruction without literature. The results supported my rationale that the inclusion of children’s literature increases reading skills. This article, and its results, will be used in the formal paper and PowerPoint presentation for the final project, Early Childhood: Project Assignment.
