Project Options

· Program Type: As an early childhood professional, you will need to make decisions on what to teach and how to teach it. For this project option, using your imagination, you will describe your early childhood classroom setting and then choose either the Montessori, High Scope, Reggio Emilia, Bank Street, Howard Gardner, or Creative Curriculum program to explain how you would implement this program type/curriculum in your classroom. As a Christian educator, you will also consider how you would incorporate Biblical knowledge, Christian principles, or character development into your program. You will highlight the unique aspects and some specific activities of the program you would include in your program. Thoughtful considerations of how children with special needs would adapt to your program choice are to be included.

· Multicultural Infusion: For this project option, you will select five children’s books featuring multicultural content. You will decide how you would use these materials to promote awareness and acceptance of diversity throughout the entire curricular year. You will also design and include at least one application activity and one Biblical integration for each book.

· Family Involvement: For this project option, you will develop a family involvement calendar for your preschool program. This will include:

· Writing objectives for the program.

· Developing at least one specific activity each month that will involve families and provide services to them with a biblical principle tied into each month’s activity.

· A detailed plan of how you might involve fathers, language-minority families, and families of children with disabilities.

· Curriculum: For this project option, you will choose an age group and theme and develop activities around a children’s book that covers concepts of Math, Language Arts, Science, physical activity, Bible, Music, and Art. The book you choose must be within the past seven years. You will include adaptations for children with special needs.
