FINAL PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS (7/14 Content)
-After covering 7/13's content, "Hypothesis Testing", you will be ready to start thinking about your Final Project!
-In this announcement I have detailed the requirements of your Final Project, and provided a YouTube demonstration of myself completing the ENTIRE Final Project.
-In the following announcement, I will discuss how you can complete your TWO REQUIRED DISCUSSION POSTS in the process of completing your Final Project. If you have not already been involved in the discussions, please take advantage of these options!
DS-23 Final Project Details:
· Find an article in a newspaper, magazine or on the internet which makes a claim about ONE population mean. (The claim may be based upon a survey that the article was reporting on. You will use the article's claim as the null hypothesis.)
· Copy or print the article, and include a copy in your project.
· Create a set of hypotheses, using the article's claim as your null hypothesis.
· Conduct your own survey, regarding the population mean reported on in your article. (You must have at least 30 responses in your sample. When you hand in your final project, attach the tally sheet or the packet of questionnaires that you used to collect data. Your data must be real.)
· Calculate and state the statistics resulting from your survey: sample size, sample mean, and sample standard deviation.
· Test the hypothesis you created, and state your results, using the 5% level of significance.
· Create a 95% confidence interval estimate, for the true value of the population mean in question.
· Write a summary (in complete sentences and paragraphs, with proper grammar and correct spelling) that describes the project. The summary MUST include:
· Brief discussion of the article, including the source.
· Clearly state the claim made in the article (your null hypothesis).
· Describe how, where, and when you collected the data, including the sampling technique. (To make things easy on you, it is okay to use Convenience Sampling.)
· Test your hypothesis, and state the conclusion of your hypothesis test. You must describe your conclusion in the context of your project topic.
· Your 95% confidence interval estimate, and a sentence interpreting it in the context of your project.
