Speech
Title: Drake, the Fake. He didn’t start from the bottom.
General Purpose: To inform.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Drake’s history before his music career.
Central Idea: I will tell my audience about Drake’s acting career, his bowling career, and his career in the military.
Introduction
I. Attention Getter (Hook): Started from the bottom now we’re here. Started from Degrassi, you were almost there already.
II. Reveal Topic/Audience Connection: I’m going to tell you all about Drake’s career before hip hop.
III. Credibility: To write his biography, I listened to some of his music and conducted research.
IV. Central Idea: (Preview of main points) I will tell my audience about Drake’s acting career, his bowling career, and his career in the military.
V. Transition Statement: Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about Drake’s acting career.
Body
I. Main Point: Our first main point is Drake’s acting career.
A. Drake was a main character on the show Degrassi.
1. Support material: According to Canada.gov/entertainment, in an article called Drake or Degrassi, written by Terrence McPhillip in 2006, Drake was known as Jimmy on Degrassi. From this, we can see that Drake was actually an actor well before he began singing. He played this character for years and built much of his success from the show.
B. Drake was also in a series of Sprite cereal commercials.
1. Supporting Material. Drake told us, as you may remember, that this cereal has twelve grams of sugar. As a reminder, I found his old commercials on youtube. They were posted by the user DrakeFan1004EvaDrake in 2019. The video was called Best Commercials for cereal ever.
(Transition) We are now done with his acting career. Let us move on to his bowling career.
II. Main Point: If you found his acting career strange or possibly fantastic, you may enjoy hearing about his bowling career.
A. Drake was a bowler for nineteen successful years, before his wrist was injured.
1. Support material: In the John Philip article from the journal of bowling injuries, published in 2014, titled the Dark Side of Bowling, “bowling can affect your physical health” (p. 137). Drake’s health was, in fact, harmed by the bowling injury. And as many of the injured bowlers cited in the Philip article, Drake never returned to the sport he was passionate about.
B. Drake was enormously famous in the Canadian bowling league series fandom.

Conclusion
I. Signal end is near: To conclude my speech about Drake, we will sum it up. Drake did not start from the bottom of the singing career.
II. Reinforce central idea (Recap): Instead, he had an acting career, a bowling career, and a career in the Canadian military.
III. Close with impact: When you hear the song, now you can know how he actually got there.
