The business environment is ever changing no matter in national or global business environments. Therefore, business has to always be prepared to deal with these changes and plan for solutions to keep the business going. The company that I am currently working for apply a few ways or solutions to deal with current national and global business environment such as having a clear vision and creating a strategy or plan. Business has to always has a clear vision in facing changes occurred in the environment. With a clear vision in mind, the employees will be able to achieve different goals in order to help the business work towards the vision. When changes occur in the business environment such as market fluctuations or economic instability, the employees might have the feeling of job insecurity and their attention on their work responsibility might be easily diverted. This is the time where the leaders or management team of the business have to step out to reassure the employees’ emotion by reporting the financial situation of the company and let the employees know the strategy planned in dealing with the changes in the business environment. In dealing with changes in the market environment, organization has to create a strategy or plan to keep everything in order. An organization is structured by different parts such as stakeholders, different departments, etc., which might be hard for the organization to keep track of the changes to be made for all areas of the organization without a strategy with timeline and goals to be achieved.

Current national and global business environments have been impacted by factors more than economic. The past couple years have seen the unprecedented pandemic which led to supply chain destruction, offices and businesses being closed or moved to remote work environment, and mental health being at stake at large. Other global events like Russian – Ukraine war and national events like hurricane Ian, and recession looking more real have further challenged the businesses on multiple fronts. I work at an online retail giant business and the impacts at work have been multifaceted. The common theme of action at the organization level to fight these challenges has been – staying relevant – in terms of our product offerings and staying relevant to customers in the long term. Many projects have been put on hold to focus on more value-based projects. Senior management and leaders have driven difficult conversations to identify very specific, customer valued goals and brought organizational and structural changes to focus on specific goals. At an individual level I have also prioritized up-scaling my skills to stay relevant at my current work and preparing myself to take up bigger challenges. Communicating with leadership, managers and peers to discuss ideas, and seek guidance also helps to get broader perspective and alignment of personal goals with organizational goals to make sure career growth is not impacted.
