Cultural fit is essential when hiring new employees it determines the success, job satisfaction and how long the employee will stay with a company. Being the right cultural fit means to have the same beliefs, values and attitudes of the company. Poor culture fit can cause the company 50-60 % of one’s salary, so it’s crucial to find the right fit. The actions that can be taken in the recruitment and selection process to make sure a candidate fits the culture of the organization is to talk about the company culture in the interview and give some examples. Ask specific interview questions based on the current company culture. An example of a question would be, “what type of work culture do you thrive in.” Give the potential employee a company tour to see how the company operates (Bouton, 2015).
The company needs to be specific and know what their culture is. It needs to be clearly defined. Recruiters and hiring managers need to both know the company culture and what type of candidate they are looking for. Hiring managers need to understand when looking for cultural fit that everyone isn’t the same. They need to have similar beliefs and values.
